Rite of Passage

It’s nothing to people who live here, but this was our very first sighting of a scorpion….

in the house.

Wow, it could easily blend into the carpet. Is is a dangerous kind?
Eliab has found black snakes in our chicken’s nesting box when he was getting the eggs and that kinda scared me. However, a scorpion… I would freak.
    Who found it?

Uh, snakes would freak me out. Scorpions are kind of like large spiders. With big stingers on them. Kind of like a cross between a crab and a sting ray.

    I’m not helping, am I?

Not really dangerous. Their sting hurts pretty bad though (so I’ve heard). The smaller they are, the more potent the sting apparently too.

Two boys who were supposed to be going to sleep somehow saw it outside the bathroom in the hallway. I am glad they saw it. This one was about 1 1/2-2 inches long.

  3. The smaller scorpions have the worst bite.. I’ve actually ran into more snakes in the past couple months..
